We welcomed Dr Houston to Village Medical Centre in August 2023 and she has proven to be a great asset to the practice. She is also our only Russian speaking Doctor.
Dr Houston completed a Paramedic Degree prior to earning a Medical Degree with high distinction from Ural State Medical Academy. She commenced her professional life working as a medical practitioner in Municipal Clinic Hospital and Outpatient department as a GP in Russia for 4 years. Relocating to Australia, she undertook general training at Royal Darwin Hospital and Palmerston Hospital for 2 years and following her time in NT, Dr Houston continued her general training at LMH and Modbury Hospital in SA for 1 ½ years before joining us here, at Village Medical Centre. Over her career she has gained valuable experience in General Medicine, Surgery, Emergency, Medical Oncology, Acute Paediatric care, Paediatric Emergency medicine, Neonatal care, Women’s health emergencies, Obstetric post-natal care, Cardiology and Palliative care. She has been an RACGP registrar since January 2024 and hopes to participate in Women’s Health sharing services after the completion of her placement. She is passionate about building strong therapeutic relationships with her patients and families which she believes is crucial in being recognised as a valuable GP in a regional community. Her fields of interest include children’s and women’s health and promoting healthy lifestyles. Her future professional goal is to complete a Diploma in Children’s Health. Outside of work, she enjoys arts, reading books and travelling, spending time with her family and friends.
